L&PIC – Linguistics & Philosophy IUSS Center.
Epistemology and Philosophy of Mathematics

10 April 2025 – Trust & AI: Philosophical Perspectives

The Linguistics & Philosophy Center at the School of Advanced Studies IUSS Pavia will host a one-day workshop, Trust & AI: Philosophical Perspectives.

The diffusion and increased utilization of Artificial Intelligence in recent years have impacted a significant share of our professional and everyday lives. This workshop will explore the complex connections between trust and artificial intelligence from a broadly epistemological perspective. It will examine how AI affects the network of trust in society, our understanding of risk, and how it leads us to rethink our relationship with technology.

The event will be held at Palazzo Broletto, Piazza della Vittoria 15, Pavia, Italy, in the Sala del Camino Lecture Hall and on Zoom at: https://iusspavia.zoom.us/my/br.salademcamino

The Workshop is funded by the EFC—Educating Future Citizens initiative, a network of eight higher education schools funded by Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). The initiative aims to enhance guidance and advanced training activities and offer new opportunities to high school and university students.

The EFC Funding will also award up to 14 travel grants to PhD students to participate in the workshop. Ten 300€ grants will be awarded to students traveling from Italy, and four 500€ grants will be awarded to students traveling from abroad. To apply, manifest your interest by writing an email with a brief (one paragraph) explanation of your interest in participating in the workshop and CV by March 25th to alessio.tacca@iusspavia.it.
