Great news! Laura Caponetto has been awarded a 1.2 million FIS (Italian Science Fund) Starting Grant to lead a 5-year research project titled ‘SEX-PRAG: The Pragmatics of Sexual Communication and Its Ethical Implications’.
With a cross-disciplinary team of philosophers, psychologists, and linguists, SEX-PRAG pursues four research objectives, combining conceptual analysis and empirical investigation: (i) explore consent and other ‘intimate speech acts’; (ii) investigate the potentialities of communication to shrink the ‘gray area’ of sex and scaffold disabled sexuality; (iii) analyze social narratives around sex and how they impact people’s sexual flourishing; (iv) collect brand-new data on how young Italians talk and think about sex, and how sexuality is represented across Italian media.
