Carmine Di Martino is full professor of Moral Philosophy at the Department of Philosophy “Piero Martinetti” of the University of Milan. He is a member of the PHILTECH@UNIMI Research Center, as well as the Interuniversity Center for Ethical Studies – CISE.

His research interests include Husserlian phenomenology, Heideggerian thought, contemporary French philosophy, pragmatism, philosophical anthropology, social psycholgy and the philosophy of technology. With respect to the latter, his research has focused on the role of technology in the processes of human hominination and ontogeny, elaborating the notion of preterintentional retroactive effects – physiological, neuropsychic, cognitive, social – of technology and technique-mediated acting on “users” (this notion refers to the use of early tools as well as the use of artificial intelligence machines).
